Co-organized by the Taiwan Machine Tool
& Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA) and the German Trade Office Taipei
(AHK Taiwan), and supported by the Precision Machinery Research &
Development Center (PMC), the “TMTS Roadshow – Aerospace Application Day” was
successfully held on November 27 at the Asia UAV AI R&D Center in Chiayi.
The event attracted more than 90 industry participants and featured 14
exhibitors, including five machine tool companies, three German firms, and six
UAV manufacturers, showcasing Taiwan’s growing cross-sector integration
strength. As the second event in the TMTS Roadshow series—following the
Taichung session on November 7 and preceding the final event in Taoyuan on
March 13—the Roadshow continues to build momentum toward TMTS 2026.
Several industry leaders were invited to
discuss future trends in advanced manufacturing.
Dr. Lo Cheng-Fang, Chairman of the Asia UAV Industry Alliance and Founder of
GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology, noted that the global drone market is
expected to shift in 2027, with commercial and civil segments overtaking
military applications. By 2030, the total market could reach USD 90–100
billion. He emphasized that geopolitical tensions are accelerating demand for
“low-cost, high-volume, and expendable” unmanned systems, and Taiwan—known for
its precision machinery and flexible manufacturing—has the potential to become
a trusted supply chain partner for democratic nations.
TRUMPF Taiwan highlighted the extensive
applications of laser technology in aerospace and unmanned systems, including
machining of high-strength alloys, 3D additive manufacturing, and structural
repair. Laser processes offer high precision and reduced heat-affected zones,
enabling shorter cycle times and improved component reliability. The
integration of machine tools with laser technology, they noted, will be a key
enabler for Taiwan’s machinery industry to further penetrate high-end aerospace
manufacturing.
APEC showcased Taiwan’s capabilities in
aerospace machining. With years of specialization in complex structural
components—such as wing spars and engine parts—APEC has established expertise
in high-rigidity large-part machining, fixture design, and turnkey solutions.
The company has successfully assisted international clients in mass-producing
20-meter-class wing spars, demonstrating that Taiwan’s supply chain can meet
the stringent requirements of global aerospace OEMs.
The event also welcomed distinguished
guests from the Chiayi County Government, the German Trade Office Taipei, Asia
Pacific Airlines, AIDC, Coretronic, PMC, and other organizations, collectively
advancing cross-industry collaboration.
TMTS 2026 will take place from March 25 to 28 at the Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center (TICEC). With its theme “Empowering Transformation, Enabling Sustainability through AI,” the exhibition will bring together machine tools, aerospace technology, UAV applications, and smart manufacturing solutions, marking a new milestone for Taiwan’s machinery industry.
