Taipei, Feb. 5, 2010 (CENS)--The 2010 Taiwan International Machine Tool Show (2010 TMTS) has been rescheduled for November 3-7 from the original September 1-5, but at the same venue: Taichung City ShuiNan Economic and Trade Park.
The show, organized by Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builder`s Association (TMBA), will showcase the entire scope of state-of-the-art technologies and machinery for the metalworking industry, from machine tools and precision tools to complete systems to meet customers` specifications.
The organizer noted the manufacturing sector has been the key driving force for Taiwan`s economic development. Taiwan is the global center for IC (integrated circuit) foundry and flat-panel display, as well as the manufacturing powerhouse for many high-tech products.
Taichung is seen as a manufacturing hub for a variety of industries, including precision machinery, metalworking, information and communications technologies (ICT), optoelectronics, medical equipment and warehousing, etc. As a result, the 2010 TMTS will provide the diversity of resources and the richness of business opportunities.
According to TMBA, overall production value for Taiwan`s machine-tool industry came to US$5 billion in 2008 and ranked 5th in the world. Taiwan is the fourth-largest exporting country of machine tools in 2008. With more than 200 machine-tool builders and 1,000 component makers working together, more than 40,000 CNC (computerized numerically controlled) machine tools were sold worldwide yearly, making Taiwan the world`s second-largest producer of the products.
The TMBA`s tallies also showed Taiwan is currently the world`s fifth-largest importer of machine tools in 2008. The ICT and semiconductor industries accounted for 97% of the imported machine tools over the past few years, making Taiwan one of the Asia`s most important importers of the products.
Buyers and suppliers from around the world can easily get the full picture of the Taiwan machine-tool industry by visiting Taiwan. Any delicate parts and accessories of the machine tools can be found quickly within 50 kilometers from the TMTS show venue.
During the show dates, the organizer will provide free shuttle bus services daily to facilitate visitors` transportation need for visiting the nearby Central Taiwan Science Park, Taichung Precision Machinery Technological Park, and the Taichung City Refined Mechanics Technological Park, etc.
